Default What is "Enchanted"?

Once again I have a situation. I do not have access to guild wars wiki or presearing.com at work....and I am at work.

I was killing charr in the Northlands last night and got a Purple Short Sword. When I identified the sword the mods were...

Damage 10-14 (10-16 is max in pre)
Damage +13% While Enchanted
Armor +6 vrs Elemental

The sword that I use is the Crafters Rinblade
Damage 10-14
+5 Armor Vrs Charr

I purchased a MAx Sundering Mod 18/20 and put that on my rinblade.

The only mod that I can salvage off of the sword that I found last night is the armor +6 vrs Elemental damage.

MY question is about the Enchanted. What is Enchanted??? What constitutes Enchantment. My toon is W/R so casting an enchantment on myself is not an option if there were such a thing. Is this worth using in PRE?

This is my only 10-anything sword that I have found. I have 3 8-11 swords. Should I salvage the Pummel or save the salvage kit for a vrs Charr pummel (maga Bucks to buy). Background. I switch between 2 shields. Both are armor base 10. One is +9 Vrs Fire used against Charr Hunter's and the other is +8 vrs Slashing used against Charr War. I always kill hunter's first.

Does the short sword have a better attack time than the long sword? Is there a difference or is it just a name? Have these things been tested? There is a difference in bows so I just wondering.

Thanks

Man do I play this game a lot or what???

Looks like you already know what an enchantment is, since you know it's a spell caste on yourself. Enchants look like this [holy veil]. They have the little yellow triangle in the top right. That lets you know it's an enchantment.

As regards your last question, no, there is no difference in attack time between a long or a short sword. All swords attack at the same rate.

So.. it is useless to me. The sword is junk unless I go charr hunting with a monk as I already have chosen ranger as my secondary. My pet is at lvl 16 and does more than 13% damage than the mod on a 14 damage sword would ever do.

Ah, *h repeated* shucks.

Thanks IrishCB. I would love to get on the wiki but I can not. It is blocked. I am so frustrated that I can not get to the wiki's. I have copied and pasted some of the website to my e-mail so that I can view the pages but it is hard to keep them all straight. This one I have not copied and pasted into my e-mail so I do not know what it says. Can you look for me and see if Retrobution i(spelling error sorry) is an enchantment.

Maybe they are listed in the skill.. Going there now.

Thank

He doesn't have access to the wiki at work, Irish. Careful about being a jerk.

@ OP: Yeah, it's not the most useful thing for you right now. Don't use a sword on your monk though. At least don't use it in melee anyway.

Yeah, you're right my bad if i came off wrong; me needs more coffee

OP:[Retribution]

P.S. A little work around for you if you wanna look up skill descriptions @ work. Edit a/your thread and type [] around the name of the skill and press Preview Post, it will then pop up and you can hover over it.

Alright then. Thanks for the shout out Katsumi. Well I went to Skills and saw that Healing Breeze IS an Enchantment! Yeah! Long Live PRE! *Rant*

So I will keep the sword. And Mod it with whatever I find on the ground and keep it to play with MONKS. That way when the cast the old HB on me I can Kick some charr to the toon of 13% Dmg bonus! Sa-Wheat.

War got to love those MONKS!

As for IrishCB no Prob Bro. If I did not know about those sites I sure would want to.

No problem. More coffee needed here as well. Lol.

Yeah, you could use it for your monk in pre, since you may get rushed by melee enemies. But I would not use it later on. Wand + focus is better is almost every circumstance.

Just something to keep in mind for later.

Thanks for your help.

The purple sword is worthless in post so it will stay in pre. I will mod it with a sundering 18/20 for 15K and keep it. I will switch it out as 13% dmg is decent in pre that brings the damage up to max 16 before attributes kick in (15.82 to be exact).

Yikes! I noticed in your first post that you said 18/20 was MAx - it's not!. 20/20 is max damage for sundering and even that doesn't go for 15k (in post-searing) - 18/20 sundering (or more correctly, 20/18) is junk that you would merch. I hope you didn't get scammed on that. There seem to be a lot of scammers in pre, I guess they figure there's a lot of new players.

20/18 sundering (20% sundering, 18% chance) may be a lot for pre-searing, and perhaps they are rare-ish (in pre), but considering what 20/18 sundering would do for you, it's barely worth 1k, let alone 15k

Another thing to be aware of is Char Bags. I see people selling them in pre for about 800g. If you plan to stay in pre for a while, it could be worth buying one for the increased storage space, but if you plan to exit pre-searing at about level 7, save your money. The equivalent bag in post-searing is around 200g.
(On the other hand, I do recommend that you stay in pre-searing long enough to explore the whole area and do all the quests (minus the Char stuff) to get the most out of it, so a Char Bag is good if you can afford 1 or 2)

Let me start by saying that my toon, I'm Not Your Mother is a Perma-pre toon and will stay there forever. Thus I have no access to POST items as the 2 glitches were fixed before I was smart enough to get a Gold Sundering Broadsword of Charrslaying Req8 and charrslaying mod of 25%. YES there IS a 25% Charrslaying mod that does exist check the wiki.

So since I missed out on the perfect sword I have to put up with a rinblade that has armor +5 vrs charr and is 10-14 Dmg.

The Max sundering IN PRE is 20/18% and is 15K. That is a cheep price and one that I would take every day. They are very rare in pre indeed. You can only get them by killing the charr and good luck getting max. Remember that this drop will be PURPLE. Only the Charr drop Purple in Pre.

As for the charr bags they are a semi rare drop by the Charr bosses ONLY. This was added as a result of the request for storage in Pre. They are a MUST for a perma pre not a want. If you are going to be going for Legendary Defender oF Ascalon you really should have these. If you are going to post then 800 (I have seen 900) gold for these is insane and you are getting scammed. However to almost double the amount of items that you can carry is GREAT in pre.

Personally I salvage all items in pre that say, "Highly Salvageable" and then I use a MULE to take them to Post-Searing and sell them. Last time I checked 10 iron were selling for 210 gold from the merchant. I have a stack and a half of them now in pre. so I can sell them for 4K/stack. Not that shabby. So for 4 stacks I can get my sundering 20/18 for the cost of salvaging them in pre.

If you want something to go nuts over how about a 10-16 damage sword for 75K. Yes that is MAX damage in pre and good luck prying one of them off of a LDoA for 100K. Can not be done. VERY rare. Scamming would be someone lvl 9 getting a purple sword and not identifying it and then someone else buying it off of them and it turms out to be a sundering 20/18 longsword of charrslaying 18%.

Oh yes 18% vrs an enemy type is MAX in pre. That mod is 35-50K if you can get one.

I bought a staff mod of charrslaying 18% for 20K a while ago.

Oh then there is the BIGGIE. a Shield with 12 armor and health +23 and +9 vrs charr, another max item.

That is HUGE price. Take 1/4 damage against charr for war and beautiful for my mesmer. I get half of the base damage cause it is Strength req 6 but I get full mod of 9 vrs charr. That is armor 15 vrs charr for my offhand bringing my armor MAX to 32 on a mesmer. SA-WHEAT.

Anyone got a Sundering Longsword of Charrslaying 20/18 10-16 18%?

WOW. 30 Black dyes. Insane.

It's good you didn't get things through in the glitch, since you would have been banned.

And you just started playing, but you're already doing a perma pre?

Well as to the glitch. I would just have to go to post or give the stuff to a Mule and take it back to post.

We used to get hunter's ale and them map to guild hall and then map back to get drunkard minutes quicker. That is how that all started. Someone got the great idea to start to bring stuff back from the chest in the guild hall.

Someone started bickering and selling the stuff in Ascalon district 1 and that wrecked it for everyone. If they were not so greedy and wanting "20K for a Perfect Salvage kit" and just kept their mouths shut I could have had access to my storage account.

I actually did start to put some stuff into my storage in the guild hall but only for about 2 days after I started trying to get hunter's ale. It never dawned on me to get my good sword out of storage as it was req10 swordsmanship. I did not even think of it as I could only put like 5 in sword a the time. I thought it was a waist.

Turns out I was wrong.

I can remember someone showing off to me in the trade window a salvage kilt with 98/100 uses and I was like WHAT THE? How did you get that I asked of him. He just closed the window and ran away.

As I said 2 days later I could not get to the guild hall to trade with my guild leader. They wanted iron and junk so I would spend time in pre and get the materials and sell them in the guild hall. I never thought anything of it.

I am 100% sure that there are 22 damage swords in pre but I am lacking that. If anyone has it I am sure that they solo farm cause stuff would die way to fast.

In Post I farm charr carvings in Fort ranik mission with my war. I had someone craft me the charrslaing sword and the shield to go with it. I can kill everything there without the catipults. Imagine the destruction of a lvl 17 war with those? WOW I could kill everything in a hearbeat and what challenge would there be? None. So to me it would be pointless.

I love Presearing as it gives a challenge. The rare drops and the sure thrill of someone saying "WTF a GOLD drop in PRE? What is that?" when then get the charr salvage kil. I in return, that is your 5K drop. Use it wisely on PURPLE and Rune Drops ONLY. do not waist it.

They are like a kid in a candy store. I have to admit that when I get one I go nuts as well. WOOT I start to yell out loud a the computer. Yes another 5k towards my sword! the 10-16 one that is.

So as you can tell this war has been in pre a long long time. Almost a year! I will get a mini pet! The Prince I hope. Be neet to do charr at the gat ewith 2 princes and a lvl 3 toon. LOL

I was in post with my monk and I did the prof and I did the GWEN and I have a LS and I got bored of all of the stuff there. I have some stuff in my hall and I just got sick of playing with people that the first time someone dies they just map out. Like I do not carry a res on my monk? If they are crazy and I am like 5 energy I have 5 energy and run into 3 groups and agro all 3 and call me a nob for it and then map out what is a monk to do but take henchies and hero's? It bites.

But then there is pre. There are people that know nothing. Nothing at all. They have no bad habits. They do not even know where to get a wolf or a bear cause they are neet.

That is where I come in. I can say, oh you want this, you can get it here or there or wait, do not sell that black dye of 50 gold, I will buy it off of you for 5500 gold. NO S**T right now I say.

I am just trying to get used to playing pre again. I found that I missed it and I am going for lvl 17 or 18 as it has the lure that I know what I am doing and I will be strong enough to kill stuff and keep the lower lvl toons - that want to play and not map out when they die- alive for as long as I can.

So that is my ramble. Short and sweet.. or mostly short.

Ok well, that makes sense. If you were new, I was going to encourage you to explore the rest of the game, but it looks like that's not necessary.

I'd be careful to admitting to bring things through using the glitch. People were supposed to destroy those items brought through or face bans and have Anet delete it for you.

But anyway.

Hmm... this does make me wonder how you've played through the game so much, but don't know what an enchantment is...

Hi there. It sounds like you work where I do. I also cannot reach wiki (pvxwiki works though) or the main guildwars site or pre-searing or even imageshack and photobucket, so I can't see a lot of the inserted pictures in these threads.

Anyways, regarding your weapon choice in Pre, you probably already know this but incase you didn't, you can type /bonus and you'll have access to all the bonus weapons on your account. These are weapons that you can generate whenever you need them. They are all max damage and there are a couple of swords among them so hopefully you'll have a few on your account.

Just generate them and throw away the ones you don't use. You can always get them again anytime you need them just by typing /bonus.

The rest of my ramble.

As an example I took a lvl 8 w/d with me on a run to the Morthlands last night.

I asked him if he had been there before and said yes so it was kewl. We were doing a boss run and I run through the first 2 groups of charr and then start killing the grawl to get them out of the way and build adren.

When to my surprise I get hit in the back - critical hit - by a charr axe fiend. Turns out that this guy ran right through the charr and agro'd one of the groups and led them straight to me.

What did I do? Well, I turned around and killed the charr that was attacking me but he 9war) was 2 hunters on him and a shaman. No chance for him he died. I killed them and res'd him. So what? so what. At least I knew that this guy needed help. even if he did not want to admit it.

So we went on and he got killed a few more times and I would just die in the shrine. WHY? cause killing things without him alive was pointless. I might as well gone alone. Took an hour to do a boss run.

In that hour I gave him a longbow as he only had a short bow. Pulling a boss with a short bow = death at lvl 8 cause you agro everything at the shrine.

So I go in an die again cause we had not killed a boss and gotten my res recharged. It was a great learning experience. He gets to know how to pull and he ended up with a charr bag.

It was funny cause it dropped for him at his feet and then he just let it sit there and ran the other way.
I was thinking that he did not have room to carry it?

I was like WAIT WAIT. do you want this? if not pick it up and I'll give you 700 gold for it. He asks what it was for and why it was green. So I tell him and he throws away a junk and picks it up.

Get this. the dude says..."Thanks man"

Now that is what the game is about is it not? If we can teach the new player in pre how to pull and not draw the agro and how to control their pets is it not worth the hour?

Oh by the way. That was the run that I got the sword in. I wounder if there is someone watching us play sometimes. That is the best sword drop I have ever gotten since I went back to pre.

What?

There are swords? For Bonus in pre? Can I get one off of you since you can generate them all of the time? What is the max damage-22?

I know that there is a hammer but I did not know that there was a sword.

Looking for knowledge.

As for knowing what enchantments were, I never paid any mind to it. While monking if someone needed healing I would HB them I never gave it a thought.

99% of the time I would solo with henchies. I find real people agrovating as they would say, "Your a Monk. Monks heal they do not kill stuff. Change your build or leave." so I would leave and use Henchies. U ised to farm the fire islands, second mission in. I would it with henchies as I did not have hero's and kill everything. It was slow but I used lockpicks and got chests and stuff. I was fine with that.

I can remember my guild saying that they needed another player for GvG and that I was the only one on that was not gvging and so the officer told me to come. So I did. I never reset my smiting build and we got wipped. There was a HUGE blowup and the guild leader kicked some people out and there was swearing and cussing and then others left or got booted. I came back 2 days later and there were 4 people in the guild.

I have not gvg or pvp'd since that once and only time. I refuse. They can kick me from the guild if they like but I had enough.

So there is Pre. Peaceful pre. Ahhh.

I'd leave that guild. They sound like a bunch of jerks and they obviously don't know anything about gvg. You don't just grab 8 random people and head into battle. You plan your builds and strategy carefully and practice within your guild first if you aren't familiar with the format. Players either enjoy gvg or they don't. If they don't then they really shouldn't be in a GvG guild and the leader has no right to force gvg games on guild members that aren't suited for it. It was your leader's fault you lost the battle. He didn't review builds and had no strategy going in.

As far as being a smite monk is concerned, you'll find yourself at odds with a lot of groups on that one. Monks are at their best as healers not damage dealers. If you enjoy doing damage, you'd probably be happier as an Elementalist or Warrior. However if want to continue as a smite monk, go ahead. There is nothing inherently wrong with it.

For the bonus weapons, just type /bonus. You may have some that you aren't aware of. I didn't realize I had any on my account until I tried it.

As for the guild it got disbanded and we started another one called - SOLO - so that we can do our own thing as the name applies.

We only need 2 more npc's to max out the guild hall. It is nice. I have rented the little house out by the boat as it is a quiet spot. The guild leader tells me that I need to mow then lawn there more often. That is a joke for all of those out there.

So ya. The old guild was given back to someone that got booted and the alliance was reformed but we mostly just play our own style. No shouting. Build what you want. Smite on a war or ele on a monk. whatever we want. JUST NO YELLING.
